Get into the spirit with Alpena Spirit Tumble & Cheer. Building character and confidence through leadership and athletic performance activities.
Our program includes instruction in competitive all-star cheer, competitive hip hop dance and recreational tumbling, cheerleading, and baton twirling.
Alpena Spirit is a volunteer organization offered in Alpena, MI and the surrounding area. It is open to girls from ages 4 to 17 who love to Tumble, Stunt, Dance, and Jump. Competitive Hip Hop dance is open to both girls and boys who are within the team age quidelines.
All instructors are employed on a volunteer basis and tuition fees are collected for program materials only.
The competitive season for All-Star Cheer and Hip Hop Dance is mid-Sept to mid-March.
Lessons in tumbling, baton twirling, recreational cheer, and other activities are offered year around with 8 week sessions held in fall, spring and summertime.
1-3 All-Star Cheer and Hip Hop Competitions per season.
The competitive teams welcome all interested members but do require certain tumble skill levels for specific team placement. Informal tryouts to determine skill level may be necessary for new members. It is important that prospective members know that the program is geared toward the serious gymnast, cheerleader or dancer who is not afraid to perform in front of large crowds. Only members who can give 100% commitment to practice and competition schedules and complete the entire season are encouraged to join.
Practice twice weekly at East Campus facility located on Miller Street, Alpena, MI. Practices are held in the evenings.
Tuition rates for competitive teams are $30-$50 per month with first tuition payment due September. Members must also pay a registration fee of $40 to secure a spot on one of the teams. Registration commitments are expected by July. Tuition payments cover the cost of cheer assessories (makeup, bow, socks), all competition fees and the use of a cheerleading uniform provided on loan to each member. All-star cheer members are expected to purchase their own cheer briefs and cheer shoes. Tuition for competitive hip hop members covers the cost of competition fees but members are expected to purchase their performance costume.
Recreational tumbling, cheerleading and baton twirling is open to girls in grades K-8th. Offered classes and the one time fee for training sessions do vary throughout the year. Needed supplies also vary by class.
